I need to ask two questions, as the answers don't seem to be anywhere on the site (closest thing I could find to a "feature list" was a list of version bug fixes) and several of these forums won't even allow me to access them.

What is the difference between Calendar Lite and Pro (what does pro do that lite doesn't)?

And, do both work with the latest version of PhpBB2 (2.0.23)?

I don't mind paying for software, mind you. I'm just a little reluctant to drop $35 without at least a little basic info.

This might help you out:

Cal Lite
Quote:
Features includes:

* Access Limitation options:
o Restrict/allow anonymous access
o Authenticated events (require Admin validation)
o Create 'trusted' groups that can add events without Admin validation
* Give a group of users moderation rights over the calendar without making them a Forum Admin
* Turn phpBB2 standard header info (last logged on, etc...) on/off
* Specify the week start (Sunday or Monday)
* phpBB2 Template support
* Improved SQL efficiency
* Admin module for configuration options
* ...and more...

Requirements:

* mySQL database (compatability with other DBMS's is being looked into)
* PHP 4.22 +
* phpBB2 installed (check for version compatability - usually latest!)

Cal Pro
Quote:
All the features above for CalLite, plus these:

Recurring Event Support

This function is VERY comprehensive with the ability to handle the following:

* Create recurring events that repeat ever X weeks/months/years
* Add notes to a specific recurrence without affecting the others
* Specify the end point for recurrences by date
* Split a specific recurrence out of a "chain"
(useful if for example a normal Monday meeting has been moved to Tuesday for one week only)
* Allows single events to be deleted and not recreated if information affecting the whole "chain" is updated
* Split "future" events from a specific point in the "chain" to include new details
* Allow the period between recurrences to be adjusted easily
* Additional "sanity checks" to make sure recurring events don't overlap, etc..

Categories

Categories can be created by Administrators allowing Users to associate their event with a particular category of their choice.

Users benefit by being able to:
- Select an appropriate category (if applicable) when adding/editing their event.
- Filter events listed in the main "month" view using a simple dropdown box to choose the category they wish to view events for.

Administration is simple as well with:
- Option to turn the categories feature on or off.
- Option to "require" a category with an event entry. (New - 2.0.2)
- Simple Control Panel module to add, edit and delete categories.
- Improved functionality of Categories allowing more natural names (New - 2.0.2)
- Error check to stop deletion of categories being used by any events (New - 2.0.2)

Categories don't need to be "Birthday", "Meetings", etc... either. Admins can choose to use them for areas, timezones, etc... as required.

Hopefully this will help you out.

Hi everyone
is there any development on calpro? (other than i read here)

I volunteered for beta testing the new calpro. since my phpbb2 completely crashed i can't do that for the import function with the old calpro. although i was so lucky to be able to import the phpbb2 database into phpbb3, that is not going to happen for calpro unfortunately.

best regards

This topic closed development:

Becoming a parent and the huge changes that brought to life made further development impossible. It's one thing being responsible for yourself, but a whole other level of crazy when you have a family.
